Prep Time 10 minutes
Total Time 10 minutes
Servings: 4 servings

Ingredients

  • Cottage cheese: Small-curd or whipped; choose 2% or full-fat for creamier texture.
  • Fresh berries: Strawberries, blueberries, raspberries, or blackberries (mix and match).
  • Sweetener (optional): Honey, maple syrup, or a touch of vanilla extract.
  • Crunchy topping: Granola, toasted nuts (almonds, pecans), or seeds (chia, pumpkin).
  • Citrus zest (optional): Lemon or orange to brighten the flavor.
  • Spices (optional): Ground cinnamon or cardamom for warmth.
  • Fresh mint (optional): For garnish and a clean finish.
  • Pinch of salt (optional): Enhances sweetness and overall flavor.

Method

  1. Prep the berries: Rinse, pat dry, and slice larger berries. If they’re tart, sprinkle with a little sugar or honey and let them sit for 5–10 minutes to release juices.
  2. Season the cottage cheese: In a bowl, stir cottage cheese with a tiny pinch of salt, a drizzle of honey or maple, and a few drops of vanilla if you like. Add a bit of lemon zest for brightness.
  3. Choose your glass: Clear glasses, jars, or bowls work well. Taller glasses show off the layers, but anything you have is fine.
  4. Layer 1 – Creamy base: Spoon a layer of cottage cheese into the bottom of each glass and smooth it out.
  5. Layer 2 – Berries: Add a generous layer of berries. Mix varieties for color and flavor contrast.
  6. Layer 3 – Crunch: Sprinkle granola, nuts, or seeds for texture. Keep some aside for the top.
  7. Repeat: Add another round of cottage cheese, berries, and crunch until the glass is nearly full.
  8. Finish strong: Top with a final handful of berries, a light drizzle of honey, a pinch of cinnamon if using, and a sprig of mint.
  9. Serve right away: Enjoy immediately for the best crunch. If making ahead, wait to add granola until serving.
